The day started out with a long drive to the fishing lake. We talked in the car and Hakimi told me that the reason he wanted to learn how to fish was that it was his mother’s favourite pastime.
The person who would teach Hakimi how to fish was Mr. Mukhris. He has been fishing as a hobby for several years and he was the perfect person to help Hakimi.
When we arrived at the lake it was around 4pm. Mr. Mukhris taught Hakimi how to set up the fishing rod and how to prepare the bait. Then, it was a matter of waiting until the fish started biting.
We were extremely lucky. We managed to catch 3 fish in one and a half hours with the total weight being 7 kilograms. Hakimi was overjoyed. At 6, it started raining, so we decided to call it a day. The entire drive back to Rumah Aman, he talked about how he caught the fish (with only a little help from Mr. Mukhris).
Before dropping him off, we decided to have a snack at McDonalds. We arrived at Rumah Aman around 7.30pm. I gave him his very own fishing rod as a present. He had his hands full as we walked into Rumah Aman. He insisted on keeping the fish he had caught, so we put them in a basket for him.
I hugged Hakimi and said bye as he told a group of his friends about his day. Hakimi learned to fish and we all had a lot of fun!
