Much Love Sunday

Bringing not one, but two kids for shopping can be quite a bulk of work. At least to me. But I guess at the end of the day, it sure did give me a glimpse of motherhood. Hah.

Both Fern and I spent our slow Sunday afternoon bringing the kids of Rumah Aman, particularly Hisham for a shopping trip, in search for his desired remote control car.

Staying in Shah Alam myself, it wasn’t hard for me to locate Rumah Aman. It’s in the size of a bungalow lot, and very much similar like any other kindergartens from the outside.

We did not know what to expect, slight awkwardness perhaps but Mr Azam, the liaison officer in Rumah Aman was brimmed with great friendliness and hospitality, who made us feel at ease instantly. We took a brief tour around the house, and I have to say, it’s very well kept for all 30 boys in the home!

Donned in their similar attire, with caps, and shirt neatly tucked in their denims, we were greeted by Hisham and Azim. Hisham is a witty, responsive young boy while Azim is shy and slow to warm, just like a baby in the family. We decided to bring Azim along too, in hope to know him a little better, so that we can work out our way to fulfill his promise for the following week!

There we were at Toy R’US, Subang Empire Gallery. The kids ran free despite our reluctance to let their hands go. Sometimes, we adults can be paranoid and anxious just like that. But hey, kids will be kids…they need to be freed and wild :) Like kids in a candy store, there was much to pick and see. In the end, Hisham settled on a red hot remote control car, with blue lights swirling at the side wheels as it moved. Pretty cool looking, I thought. Meanwhile, Azim got two miniature Hot Wheels!

It started pouring so we lingered at the mall a little longer. To keep the kids occupied, we had our sand art session. I’m not sure about the kids, but as embarrassed as it sounds, it was my very first sand art! For a first timer, I was pretty much clumsy and was merely assisting Azim all the time but for Hisham, he was quick to learn and worked like a pro! When the sand arts were completed, they were beamed with contentment and I was a happy kid myself!

Soon enough, we headed back to Shah Alam and on the way back, we dropped by McD to grab a bite. Coincidentally, there was a kid’s party going on so the whole place is packed with kids and more kids! Hah. Almost immediately after eating, Hisham and Azim ran towards the play room, were happily mingling with others and testing out their new toy. While we, were just blending in with our kids, and other kids. Haha! Guess those happy and friendly kids simply love having us, the big kids around!

With much laughter and giggles in the air, Fern and I were sitting at one corner savoring in the moment of natural and unpretentious smile plastered on their faces, bright and warm twinkles in their dark eyes.

Apart from the remote control car, sand art and McD, I really do hope both Hisham and Azim felt the same way as I did- that they will always be loved and cared for, by someone, anyone, regardless of their circumstances. For me personally, I learned that my Bahasa was terribly spoken (Haha) but most importantly, the good old feeling of being a kid again- effortless and irresponsible :)

Md. Hishammuddin Bin Badiuzaman

Well known as Hafizuddin’s younger brother, 8 years old Hisyamuddin is playful but loves his friends and will accept anything warmly when something is given to him. His wish is to play with a remote control car.
